Ever since I was young, I was never good at math or science. However, I decided to take AP biology in my senior year, which was one of the higher-level science courses, my biology teacher asked me, “Are you sure? I thought you were never going to touch science again?” Well, I did not do well at all, I struggled a lot in my senior year. So when I began applying for Australia universities, I applied for Bachelor of design and Bachelor of Arts (humanities and social sciences) because I know I will not do well in math or science programs. But my parents were like “Why not try applying for bachelor of speech pathology?” Which I did in the end to University of Macquarie because why not, since I would most likely not get in looking at my SAT scores. To my surprise, I was able to choose what I want to study from all the programs I applied for but due to my love for the UQ campus, I chose to study Bachelor of Arts majoring in linguistics and Korean.

During my first year, I came across the opportunity to apply to try to change the program to speech pathology. It made me consider because I thought I might have a better chance of getting a stable job rather than doing Bachelor of Arts. As the end of my first year rolled in, I have decided to apply for speech and business management. I thought, “If I do not get into speech, I can try business because it will give me a broader choice of jobs in the future”.

As 15 January came by, I did not get into speech most likely because I dropped one of my courses during semester 2 which resulted in not meeting the GPA prerequisite. To my surprise, I was not sad or upset, rather I was excited to see what I will be doing in the future. This made me realise that rather than forcing myself to do something that is not my forte just because I may have a better job (which is not 100% guaranteed as well), I should do something that I enjoy and love which is learning the Korean language. Even though is hard to learn a new language, I am loving it. So currently, I have no idea where I will end up in the future but I will put my hope in God for the future and trust that He has a plan, the best plan for me.

Romans 8:24-25, “For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have? But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.”
